The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners adopted the proposed 2026 budget resolution, the general appropriations act and the proposed general fund budget at its Nov. 4 meeting and scheduled a public hearing on the proposal for Dec. 2, 2025.
Chair John Black said the public hearing will be part of the county—s regular December meeting and directed the board secretary to publish the required legal notice. The motion to adopt the resolution was made by Commissioner Bill Sarkella and supported by Commissioner Roger Ballard; the board approved it by voice vote.
The board—s adoption at this stage sets the formal public comment opportunity and preserves the county—s standard budget process; commissioners said there was no further discussion at the Nov. 4 meeting. The hearing on Dec. 2 will allow members of the public to comment on spending priorities before the board adopts a final budget.
