During public comment, a resident urged the village to salt small bridges manually because heavy equipment cannot access them and they had become dangerously icy. Trustees agreed to use smaller trucks or manual crews where appropriate to reduce slip hazards.
Separately, a resident suggested reconsidering the village's cannabis opt-out policy for the North Business District, citing regional revenue examples. Trustees and the mayor explained the village previously opted out citing uncertainty about regulations and noted that opting in could be difficult to reverse; they said they will review current state rules and research implications before any change.
"When we reconsider that since Islip isn't going to do it, It would be a great boon to the village in terms of tax revenue," a resident said when urging consideration of cannabis retail in a business district.
