Superintendent highlights cheer teams' state advancement and MISD's H-E-B Excellence Award finalist status

Superintendent Dr. David Belding reported to the board on Jan. 21 that Midlothian High School and Heritage High School cheer teams advanced to state competition where each will compete as one of the top 20 teams in Texas. He also said MISD has been named a finalist for the H-E-B Excellence Award and noted that several MISD elementary campuses have qualified as "Best Elementaries" in U.S. News & World Report recognitions.
Dr. Belding opened his remarks by thanking staff that supported students during a period of cold weather, noting the district was fortunate the weather did not become severe. The items were listed as accomplishments in the superintendent's report to trustees; no board action was required for these recognitions.
