Port Neches‑Groves ISD trustees approve consent agenda, nominate appraisal district director

Port Neches‑Groves ISD Board of Trustees convened Nov. 11, 2024, at the administration building and approved the consent agenda, including the minutes from October 2024, personnel information, adoption of the 2024 tax roll resolution and the quarterly investment report. Trustee Lana Parker moved to approve the consent agenda; Trustee Scott Bartlett seconded and the motion passed unanimously, 5-0.
Trustees also voted to nominate Robert Thewman for a Jefferson Central Appraisal District board position and cast the district's votes for his election for the 2025 and the 2025–2027 terms. Trustee Scott Bartlett made the motion to nominate and cast all votes for Thewman; Trustee Lana Parker seconded. The board adopted a resolution recording that it would cast 277 votes for Robert Thewman and approved submission of that resolution to Jefferson Central Appraisal District. The resolution text included the line: "This election applies to the 2025 and 2025-2027 terms of office. *277 votes for Robert Thewman."
Superintendent Mike Gonzales introduced Tanya Davis, who reported on PNG welding students' participation in a Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo project; PNG was one of 18 schools selected to participate. Principals Brett McPhatter (Groves Middle School), Kim Carter (PNI) and Misty Higgins (Special Education) gave brief updates on campus activities and department matters. There were no board member requests for future agenda items and the meeting adjourned at about 6:40 p.m.
