The Mokena School District 159 Board of Education approved a contract with Malcor Roofing "in an amount not to exceed $416,000 for the roofing restoration project at MIS in Summer 2025 as presented." Mrs. Julie Oost, board member, made the motion and Mrs. Lisa Zielinski seconded; the vote was unanimous (7-0-0).
Dr. Teri Shaw, the district chief school business official, told the board that last month’s approved project cost was $600,000 while the winning proposal came in at $416,000, leaving a $184,000 difference. Administration said it would seek to negotiate with Malcor to expand the scope of work to include specific areas of the MES roof, pending contract details and further administrative recommendation. The board’s action authorizes the contract execution at the indicated maximum amount and schedules the work for Summer 2025.
