County schedules cemetery bylaw review, CUP process and planning-board changes at Feb. work session
Summary
At a Jan. 27 work session the county manager asked commissioners to place cemetery bylaws, conditional-use permit process revisions and Planning & Zoning board membership changes (from seven to five) on the Feb. 24 agenda; commissioners also set public hearings and a 6 p.m. start time for that session.
During the Jan. 27 work session County Manager Thomas Weaver proposed several items for the Feb. 24 work session: review cemetery bylaws and the cemetery committee’s draft ordinance language; rework the conditional-use permit (CUP) process with input from the Planning & Zoning board; and consider reducing the Planning & Zoning board from seven members to five. Commissioners agreed to invite Planning & Zoning to a joint meeting, schedule associated public hearings and change the Feb. 24 work session to a 6 p.m. evening meeting to increase public participation.
Earlier in the regular meeting the county attorney said he would coordinate with the cemetery committee and examine state law and past burial records; staff acknowledged records are incomplete and will work to document burials moving forward. The board directed staff to include the bylaw/CUP items on the next work-session agenda for focused review and public input.
