The Unified Government of Cusseta-Chattahoochee County voted June 3 to enter a one-year agreement with the Georgia Forestry Commission to provide fire-tower operator support. The agreement is effective July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, and limits the county's payment to $4,738.58 for the contract period.
County Attorney Bin Minter summarized changes and presented the draft resolution; the commission approved the resolution unanimously. The agreement requires Forestry to assign a fire-tower operator to the county unit, and provides that the operator will be a temporary day-labor employee not to exceed 40 hours per week. The contract also allows either party to terminate with 30 days' written notice.
"The UGOCCC's payment per contract period shall not exceed Four Thousand Seven Hundred Thirty Eight Dollars and Fifty Eight Cents ($4738.58)," the agreement states. The commission authorized the chairman to execute the agreement and adopted the related resolution.
