Commission appoints three volunteers to local Board of Elections; terms set

The commission adopted resolutions appointing Nancy Hoard to a term beginning Jan. 1, 2025 and expiring Dec. 31, 2028; Valerie Lassiter to a term Jan. 1, 2025–Dec. 31, 2026; and Crystal Walker to a term Jan. 1, 2025–Dec. 31, 2028. Motions to appoint were made and seconded on the record and each nomination was approved by the commission. The Board of Elections assumes duties related to voter registration, absentee ballots and the conduct of primaries and elections in the county.
The minutes show Commissioner Biddle moved to appoint Nancy Hoard (seconded by Commissioner Douglas); Commissioner Frost moved for Valerie Lassiter (seconded by Commissioner Biddle); and Commissioner Frost moved for Crystal Walker (seconded by Commissioner Douglas) with Commissioner Biddle recorded as recused from that vote. All motions were approved and entered into the meeting minutes.
