During New Business on Oct. 1, Commissioners voted unanimously to authorize a vehicle purchase for use by the Board of Commissioners while tabling two additional vehicle purchases for the sheriff's office and EMA until December. Commissioner Jason Frost said the board should avoid committing to multiple replacements before SPLOST outcomes are known; the motion included using credit for the BOC vehicle to avoid losing a purchasing opportunity.
County Manager Thomas Weaver explained that several lease vehicles are returning and the county is trying to avoid replacing five or six units next budget year; the board agreed to revisit sheriff/EMA vehicle needs and consider reassigning a Tahoe if necessary. No appropriation beyond the single approved BOC vehicle was authorized at the meeting.
