The proclamation notes Lawrence was born Dec. 28, 1944 in Columbus, Georgia; he served on the Board of Assessors from March 2006 to Dec. 2008 and served as county commissioner from Jan. 1, 2009–Dec. 31, 2012 and again from Jan. 1, 2013–Dec. 31, 2019. Lawrence died Dec. 5, 2024.
The resolution states that the progress made during Lawrence’s service "can be attributed to his love for his community and, dedication and allegiance to the County." The board affixed its seal and recorded the proclamation in the Jan. 7 minutes.
