Resident raises concern over 911 address, court fine and water billing at work session

At the Sept. 23 work session resident Christine Richards described being summoned to court on Aug. 16 and said she had not received any warning because a 911 sign/address mixup showed her address as 145 instead of 140. Richards said she was charged $260 and asked the commission "where her money is going."
Chairman Charles Coffey and County Manager Thomas Weaver explained the commission cannot overturn fines imposed by a judge; Weaver told Richards the commission would look into the county's 911 address signage and into water‑billing issues she reported. Commissioner Damon Hoyte also asked whether she has had problems receiving her water bill; Richards confirmed she has. The commission agreed to follow up with staff and to investigate the address and billing concerns.
