Chair (S1) announced the commission’s next meeting on September 22 and said that starting in January meetings will move to every other month unless a time-sensitive construction or renovation application requires a monthly meeting.
Staff (S4) said the planning office expects some certificates of appropriateness and tax-assessment cases in the coming month that may draw commission review. Members discussed administrative tasks: S1 recommended mileage forms be submitted monthly (either the day of or the day after a meeting), and S5 said they had not yet received reimbursement for an earlier submission and planned to reconcile with staff.
Chair asked members to review a previously compiled list from the historical society and pick two marker candidates to prioritize so staff can place them on the next agenda; the commission indicated the budget allows for roughly two markers per year and that the South Carolina 250th anniversary planning would likely prioritize revolutionary-war-era sites in the coming cycle.
No formal decisions were recorded on the shift to bi-monthly meetings or on prioritizing specific marker sites; staff will post agenda items and provide requested materials before the next session.
