USI reports April net paid claims of $2.52M; medical plan running at about 87.8% for 2026

USI consultant Zachary Zuckerman presented a utilization review to the Consortium on May 28, reporting that the medical plan is running at about 87.8% for 2026. He said net paid claims for April 2026 were $2,523,147 and year-to-date net paid claims were about $10,527,695. Zuckerman reported net claims per employee increased roughly 2.9% from the prior year and that membership decreased by 41 (-2.7%).
Zuckerman also noted that prescription (RX) claims currently make up 38.3% of total claims, 0.5 percentage points higher than last year, and that there were no large claimants at the time of the review. He told the board the 2027 renewal projection will be presented at the June meeting for further action and planning.
