Parks reports midyear metrics and $504,000 Hall Park grant; participation strong across programs

Parks staff presented the department's second 0.25 metrics (covering July through September), reporting participant counts and usage statistics as part of the board update. Staff said flag football had 141 sign-ups, volleyball 47, soccer 186, and two pickleball sessions accounted for 282 participants; the combined total reported for fall programs was 564. In addition, staff reported fireworks attendance of about 4,100 and 51 participants in a fundraising pickleball tournament.
The staff member also provided staffing details: the department's 1,000-hour part-time employee (Jeffrey Anderson) has logged about 850.5 hours and is expected to return in late February or March to complete allotted hours before the fiscal year begins. Staff noted seasonal staffing allocations, overtime usage, and why much of the department's expenses are concentrated in spring and summer months.
On funding, staff said the Hall Park grant—technically awarded in the 2nd 0.25—amounts to $504,000 and requires signature and approval steps by the mayor and the board for the financial paperwork. "Technically, it was awarded in the 2nd 0.25 of $504,000 and that's for the Hall Park project," the staff member said. Staff advised they will present the budget request to the mayor and city administrator later in November as part of the fiscal review process.
