Staff said the replacement would focus on the webbing rather than the support posts or concrete footings, which staff described as remaining sound from the original install. Committee members noted the original installation required substantial concrete footings, which would make full structural replacement significantly more complex and expensive if it were ever needed. Staff plans to press for the capital outlay at a Nov. 25 meeting with the mayor and city administrator and said the request is tied to priorities set during earlier goal-setting sessions.
If funded, the project would be paid from the parks' capital outlay budget and scheduled for the upcoming fiscal year; staff said they will prepare for questions from the mayor and city administrator about the estimate and installation scope.
