Selectmen weigh options after state staffing leaves a third resident trooper slot unfilled

Morosani said the class expected to graduate in March could fill the third Resident Trooper spot if there are no unexpected retirements, but selectmen discussed contingency planning including hiring a consultant and placing a referendum on reestablishing a Constable program. "I expressed interest in pursuing a referendum on reestablishing the Constable program, emphasizing the need for voter input," Morosani said in the meeting minutes.
Selectman Anne Dranginis raised concerns about liability, training and supervision for a Constable program; Morosani and J. Zullo supported hiring a consultant to scope options and report back to the board. The board tasked Morosani with securing a consultant and defining the scope of work.
