Parent asks board to remove iPads from K–4, cites petition and asks for resurvey

Ryan Evans, a parent with children in District 67, addressed the board during public comment to say a group of parents wants “complete cessation of all tablet use in K through 4 classrooms.” He said a petition at one elementary school gathered over 100 signatures and that parents had not received adequate responses from the administration. “To date, none of these concerns have been adequately addressed by the administration,” Evans said.
Evans asked the board to resurvey all district K–4 parents about the use of tablets and said that if a majority favor removal, the board should provide a compelling evidence-backed explanation for continuing the devices. He acknowledged tablets may be embedded in the curriculum and urged transparency on how and why the devices are being used. The president thanked him for his comments; no formal board action or staff response was recorded at the meeting.
