Council member (Speaker 11) said the department currently has three full-time officers plus the chief and that limiting reserve numbers while maintaining staff at four full-time positions “is probably a good balance.” Members also noted reserve service still incurs equipment and uniform costs for which the city bears some responsibility.
No ordinance or staffing change was approved at the meeting; council members suggested further review and recommended bringing the chief or interim chief to a future meeting for clarification.
