District 115 earns Exemplary designation; report card shows high growth, rising absenteeism

District 115 reported a 93.49 ISBE score placing it in the Exemplary category for the fourth consecutive year; presenters highlighted top ELA growth but noted chronic absenteeism rose to 9.3%, which reduced points in that indicator.
Administrators told the Lake Forest Community High School District 115 board that the districtearned an Exemplary designation from the Illinois State Board of Education, with a composite score of 93.49.
"This image here is a representation of all the different indicators... our score of 93.49 put us into that exemplary category," Dr. Fitzsimmons said during the superintendent's report. She noted chronic absenteeism rose to 9.3% this year, which cost the district potential points in that indicator, and reminded parents that chronic absenteeism (missing 17 or more days) has a measurable effect on learning.
Administrators also highlighted academic growth: the district reported 85.5% ELA proficiency and 77.6% math proficiency, and staff said Lake Forest ranks highly for ELA growth compared with peer districts. Presenters explained the district used ACT concordance data this transition year and previewed upcoming presentations on dual credit, postsecondary pathways and extracurricular programming.
