Commission recommends July be declared Parks and Recreation Month

Lauren, the public works director, told the commission "July is park and recreation month, and this July actually marks the 40th annual parks and recreation month," and described the national theme "build together, play together" and the role parks play in health, wellness and community resilience. She cited more than 160,000 full-time park and recreation professionals nationally and said the proclamation will be read by the mayor at the next council meeting if the council accepts the commission's recommendation.
There was no public comment on this item and a commissioner moved to recommend the proclamation to council; the motion carried with the commissioners present voting in favor.
