Prevention coalition: June OD map shows seven overdoses; trainings and summer safety planned

Connie Terry, representing the Steuben Prevention Coalition, presented the June overdose map and said it showed seven overdoses and one instance of Narcan administration. She told the Subcommittee that methamphetamine and alcohol use appear to be increasing locally and that 42 people have been trained in Narcan administration.
Terry outlined upcoming programming: Drug Impairment Training for Educational Professionals (to be held at the sheriff’s office) and a kid‑focused summer safety program on July 24 in Corning that will include police, the fire department and the sheriff offering helmets and safety education. The coalition emphasized prevention and education for youth and caregivers but did not request formal county action during the meeting.
