The Avon Community School Corporation board approved an easement request from Duke Energy for a narrow strip of property south of Willow Elementary that would allow the utility to connect infrastructure to a railroad corridor and relocate access to a transformer. Dr. Finley described the parcel as small (roughly 15 by 200 feet) and said Duke Energy would pay the district for the land and associated attorney fees.
Board members discussed the standard legal review and a motion authorizing the assistant superintendent to execute necessary documents pending legal sign-off passed unanimously, 3-0.
