The Dixon City Parks and Recreation Commission opened its July 22 meeting by introducing four newly seated commissioners. Student Commissioner Tyler Collins said he has been involved with the city, particularly the municipal pool, for most of his life and looks forward to helping improve recreation services. "I just wanna say I've been involved with the city and specifically the pool for, like, most of my life," Collins said.
Mary Taylor, who said her family will mark 10 years as Dixon residents next month, told commissioners she is at a stage in her career where she can give back to the community and help move city projects forward. "I'm excited to be a part of, helping the city move forward," Taylor said. New commissioner Shannon Bridal said she has lived in Dixon for nearly seven years, described a legal background and said she looks forward to serving residents and raising her son in the community. Kyle Esquer introduced himself as a longtime, multigenerational Dixon resident and said he is eager to return service to the city.
The introductions followed staff remarks that the commission had been short-staffed and that the new members would help fill several vacancies. Staff and commissioners thanked the new members for their willingness to serve and noted the commission will hear from them regularly at future meetings.
