Lesnick said the school has 12 unique career pathways and that about 50 seniors are on track to receive a career pathway endorsement. On attendance, he stressed the importance of the 95% attendance benchmark for 'distinguished scholar' and college/career scholar designations and reported the district’s chronic absenteeism rate at 9.3%.
On AP performance, Lesnick said the district still supports broad AP access despite enrollment shifts: “we still have 601 total AP students, taking 1,412 exams,” and he reported that 94% of exams earned a 3 or better. Students who spoke to the board credited classroom practice for preparation: “By the day of the test, honestly, I really didn't even study that much before because I felt so prepared throughout the year,” one student said.
Lesnick described major growth in dual-credit opportunities—he said the district is anticipating 519 students to earn dual credit this school year, more than double last year—and explained partnerships with Lake Forest College, Loyola University and College of Lake County (CLC) to prepare teachers to deliver dual-credit courses. He also outlined ACT testing changes, noting valid ACT tests rose to 836 when the ACT became the statewide-administered test and reported Illinois 'right-size' proficiency percentages (ELA 85.5, math 77.6, science 82.6).
Board members praised the student voice component of the presentation and asked administrative staff to continue reporting detailed breakdowns. Lesnick said future work will include continuing to expand pathways and supporting attendance and access for all students.
