Lake Forest High student council showcases VoxBox videos and raises funds for pediatric cancer support

Student council members presented a December update to the Lake Forest CHSD 115 board, previewing four short VoxBox videos produced from Oct. 23 footage and outlining plans for a Jan. 8 follow-up focused on finals and seniors’ college experiences.
“We got about 43 of raw footage that me and Josie combed through, and we picked out some great quotes from students,” a student presenter said, and the group said those clips were passed to communications to create four videos. The student council said the videos will highlight what students are grateful for, perspectives on peer tutoring and resource centers, and a segment called 'Speak Your Mind.'
The student council also reported community outreach and fundraising: “we sold a 120 of them, which we raised, around $600,” a student said, describing Halloween fundraising bags delivered to students and notes written for two students in the community battling pediatric cancer. The council said they will continue posting videos on the Lake Forest High School Student Council Instagram and the Forest Scout, and intend to make future video sessions feel less intimidating by using student camera crews.
Board members thanked the students for adding a student voice to the assessment report and for their community service work. The presentation included requests that future VoxBox questions explore the journey from freshman to senior and what students would say if they had an audience with the seven board members.
