Council leaders used the announcements portion of the meeting to promote a slate of community events and to note an active demolition grant.
The chair encouraged residents to download the Go Natchitoches app and mentioned the Zydeco Festival and Poker Run on Cane River, the Bigfoot Festival (Sept. 5 at the Natchitoches Event Center), the Natchitoches Meat Pie Festival (Oct. 18–19), and the Natchitoches Car Show (Oct. 2–3). Council also noted the demolition project funded by a Department of Housing and Urban Development earmark and said a sign acknowledging the earmark had been placed for that demolition work. A separate announcement described a fundraiser by the Natchitoches Coalition on Homeless to be held Aug. 29 at the MLK Center, with ticket and table pricing and contact information provided.
