City staff presented a request to create a new Construction Project Manager classification and to reclassify one existing junior engineer into that role to provide dedicated field-based construction oversight. Staff explained the role would reduce reliance on outside consultants and that the proposed salary is set at the median of comparable positions in nearby cities.
Staff said the employee targeted for reclassification already performs many of the duties and that the change would take effect on the first pay period following council approval. The mid-management supervisory association reviewed the proposal and indicated support. Council voted to adopt the resolution authorizing the city manager to establish the position and proceed with the reclassification.
