Jamie, speaking for the Industrial Development Agency, told the board that Bonnetrans plans to build its only North American manufacturing facility in Wayland and has committed 85 jobs to the state. Jamie said the company expects to operate 24/7 on three shifts and is in the process of selecting a design-build firm; construction is targeted to break ground in spring 2027 following procurement and site-plan review.
Jamie also reported the IDA is coordinating electrical upgrades for the project, including the likely extension of a 6.6-mile transmission line and engagement with NYSEG and state grant programs (a "power up" grant) to support interconnection. Members asked about the mix of professional and production jobs; Jamie said roughly 30 would be professional roles (engineers/supervisors) and the remainder floor staff, and that wage and salary breakdowns would be provided later when Bonnetrans applies to the IDA.
