Amityville board schedules Arbor Day events, approves community programs and parades

Deputy Mayor Owen Brooks highlighted upcoming community activities during the April 13 meeting, including an Arbor Day celebration scheduled for April 25, 2026, at Mary Carroll Marsden Community Garden and a directive for DPW to fly Tree City USA flags at the Village Triangle beginning April 24. The board approved the Arbor Day resolution unanimously.
The trustees also approved requests for community programming: Great South Bay Dance was authorized to run summer dance, arts & crafts, and yoga programs at Amityville Beach from July 8 through August 30 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Separately, the board approved a Wounded Warrior Soldier Ride route through the village on July 17 at 9 a.m. All motions carried 4-0.
