Amityville trustees approve organizational slate, routine resolutions and vendor payments

The Village of Amityville Board of Trustees convened its organizational meeting April 13, 2026, and unanimously approved a full slate of standing and temporary committee appointments, mayoral appointees and liaison assignments. Deputy Mayor Owen Brooks presided in Mayor Michael O’Neill’s absence and swore in newly elected Trustee Adam Ansanelli.
Trustees voted 4-0 on a series of routine resolutions that set the mileage reimbursement at the Internal Revenue Service rate (Resolution 26-04-13-01), adopted a training authorization for specified officers and staff (Resolution 26-04-13-02), established the 2026 meeting calendar and special pay-bill dates (Resolution 26-04-13-03), and designated J.P. Morgan Chase, M&T Bank, NYCLASS and Flushing Bank as banks of deposit with $15 million limits per institution (Resolution 26-04-13-04). The board also approved the Amityville Herald Record as the official village newspaper and NEWSDAY as the daily newspaper for the year (Resolution 26-04-13-05).
The meeting included approval of multiple vendor payments and budget items. Notable approvals included a payment of $270,851.20 to the NYS Employee Health Insurance Benefit Fund for monthly health benefits, $78,000 to Nelson & Pope for Rte. 110 traffic calming work, and $43,850 to VHB Engineering for survey and design under the Jumpstart Grant. All motions recorded on the agenda carried by 4 ayes and no nays or abstentions.
The board closed with brief public comment from Joan Donnison (Bay Village Civic Association), Carolyn Franco, and Linda and Hugo Lopez, then adjourned at 7:48 p.m.
