Select Board approves up to $20,000 bid waiver for Senior Center ADA ramp

General Services Director Dennis Senibaldi asked the Select Board to waive formal bidding and hire Disability Systems, Inc. to replace an ADA ramp at the Senior Center, saying the existing ramp does not meet code and the vendor previously completed a ramp at the Community Development Department.
Senibaldi said the ramp will be built in accordance with Governor’s Council on Disabilities requirements. When Vice Chair Heath Partington asked about prior funding, Senibaldi confirmed ARPA funds were used in 2022 and said remaining costs would come from the Property Maintenance Trust. Resident Barbara Coish asked about the timeline and requested "that the work be done as quickly as possible and that access be maintained, especially on Tuesdays and Thursdays when food arrives," and Senibaldi said the Recreation Director would coordinate to minimize disruptions.
Roger Hohenberger moved to grant the bid waiver to allow Disability Systems, Inc. to install the ramp at a cost not to exceed $20,000; Vice Chair Partington seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
