Board adopts amended probation and purchasing policies, authorizes furniture and computer purchases

The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 19 adopted amendments to the county’s probationary-period policy and amended purchasing policy as part of routine personnel and procurement updates.
During the same agenda sequence, the board authorized an emergency purchase of office furniture for the county clerk’s office not to exceed $16,709.09, to be funded from concealed pistol license (CPL) funds. The board also awarded a procurement to purchase 20 Dell laptops and Microsoft Office licensing for court and county systems with a combined not-to-exceed cost of $31,999.60.
Commissioners moved and seconded the items as part of the finance agenda (FA120-25, FA121-25, FA122-25, FA124-25). Discussion during the meeting was limited; motions carried by voice vote. The furniture and computer purchases are intended to equip courts, equalization, information systems and the 24th circuit court as described in the procurement materials.
County staff noted contingencies for equipment and funding and requested approval to proceed; the board approved the requested procurement awards and policy amendments without amendments.
