Sanilac County honors retiring officer Brett Lester for 27 years of service

The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners presented and adopted a resolution on Aug. 19 honoring Brett Lester for more than 27 years of service in local law enforcement. Commissioner Gary Heberling read the resolution, which recounts Lester’s career milestones, educational achievements and community service.
Heberling read in part: "Whereas Brett Lester has dedicated over 27 years of service to the city of Sandusky law enforcement. He started as a police officer on 05/18/1998 and was promoted to chief of police in 2010, a position he held for nearly 15 years." The resolution also cites Lester’s degrees, FBI National Academy attendance and involvement with the county drug task force and community mental-health board.
The board initially presented the resolution and later conducted a formal roll-call vote to adopt it; each district commissioner voted "Yes." Commissioners and attendees congratulated Lester and exchanged personal remarks before the meeting moved on.
The resolution will be presented to Lester and recorded in county minutes as a formal acknowledgment of his retirement and community service.
