Nicole Miller, administrator of the Sanilac County Medical Care Facility, presented the facility’s 2024 annual report to the Sanilac County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 19 and described steady financial and clinical performance alongside planned investments.
"We strengthened our financial performance, made good and regulated party compliance, and achieved strong clinical outcomes," Miller said, summarizing the executive report and accompanying slides. She pointed the board to quarterly occupancy trends and said, based on current trajectories, the facility is positioned to average over 80 residents through the third quarter of the year and could operate up to an 88-person census under current licensing limits.
Miller outlined a five-year plan that emphasizes clinical excellence, resident-centered experience, staff development and technology upgrades to connect families and the community. She also noted workforce pressures and regulatory changes under consideration at the state level that could affect licensing and the number of available beds. When commissioners asked about staffing, Miller said workforce challenges vary and the facility remains operational at the reported census.
The board later certified acceptance of the annual report as presented. Commissioners made no substantive changes to the plan at the hearing; the acceptance clears the report for the county record and signals continued oversight engagement with the facility’s leadership.
