Commission hears that two TDOT bridge projects were selected; county expects detours and traffic impacts

Ben told commissioners that the Tennessee Department of Transportation had allocated $150,000,000 to a high‑priority bridge replacement program that was quickly expended and that the county has multiple bridges in line for work; one is fully designed and ready to proceed.
"T dot put $150,000,000 into those old, high priority bridge replacement program. That was a good program, but it ran out of money pretty quickly," Ben said. He warned the commission that some detours will push traffic onto county roads while state bridge work proceeds and that one local bridge closure could last about a year. Commissioners noted the affected bridges are TDOT projects (state money) rather than county projects and said they would try to maintain detour routes as best they can.
