She said kindergarten growth was strong and highlighted a particular gain in reading accuracy, citing an increase from roughly 54% at the beginning of the year to 77% at midyear on a DIBELS measure for one grade band. Hansen explained the district’s process for core‑review meetings and 20% meetings that target the bottom cohort and described plans to compile multi‑year trends for future board meetings.
Teachers and principals who spoke in the public portion and Q&A praised instructional gains but noted pressures from staff time and curriculum implementation; the board discussed curriculum cycles and the need for professional development (some vendor trainers are booked a year in advance). Hansen said end‑of‑year results will be returned to the board at the July meeting.
