Cherokee County approves Road & Bridge hire, pay raises and authorizes CDL training agreement

Chair Myra Carlisle Frazier presided as the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners on July 7, 2025, and approved personnel moves for the Road and Bridge department. The board voted to hire Jermy Bible as a Utility/Operator II effective July 7, 2025, at $17.00 per hour and to raise Kevin Vanderpool’s hourly wage from $17.50 to $18.50 to reflect his change in role to Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Both motions passed unanimously.
Road and Bridge Supervisor Cody Zook told the board the department’s primary focus is on asphalt work and that work on Star Road is beginning. The board also authorized Zook to sign a revised CDL training reimbursement agreement, enabling the department to fund employee training under the approved terms. The actions include formal personnel approval, compensation adjustments and an operational training contract intended to support workforce capacity in the county’s road maintenance program.
