Steuben County to accept $689,655 ESInet grant to prepare for Next Generation 911

The Steuben County Legislature voted to accept a State Fiscal Year 2026 ESInet Readiness grant totaling $689,655 from the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services. Resolution 140-26 authorizes the County Manager and Director of Public Safety to execute agreements necessary to accept the funds and directs the Commissioner of Finance to appropriate the grant revenue to a new capital project titled 26ESINET within the county 911 budget.
According to the resolution the funding is intended to help prepare counties for Next Generation 911 call capabilities through a statewide Emergency Services IP Network (ESInet). Certified copies of the resolution will be forwarded to the State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services and to county finance and public safety officials for implementation.
