The Garden City Board of Education on July 27 voted to reaffirm the board of education bylaws adopted on Jan. 22, 2024 and updated in the district's Miller Johnson policy manual.
Derek Fisher, speaking as part of the item on bylaws, said, "The revised school code requires local boards of education to adopt bylaws that will govern the operations of the board." The board moved, supported and approved a resolution reaffirming the existing bylaws as presented. The vote was taken by voice; no roll-call tally was recorded in the transcript.
Board officials said the reaffirmation responds to changes in state law and preserves the district's existing governance framework. No amendments were proposed during the meeting.
