Statewide Charter School Board readopts amendments to Title 777 governing charter and virtual charter schools

The Statewide Charter School Board met in special session at 9:01 a.m. on Jan. 30, 2026, at its offices in Oklahoma City and readopted previously proposed amendments to Title 777, Chapters 1 and 10 of the Oklahoma Administrative Code governing charter and virtual charter schools. Skyler Lusnia, director of school performance, told the board the readoption was required because the 10-day deadline to submit adopted rules to the Office of Administrative Rules had passed after the rules were first proposed at the Dec. 8, 2025 board meeting.
Damon Gardenhire moved to readopt the permanent rules; Bill Pearson seconded. The motion carried by roll call: yes votes from Bill Pearson, Courtney Anderson (designee for State Superintendent Lindel Fields), Damon Gardenhire, Brian Shellem and Britni Tomcho; Kitty Campbell, Amber Hidy, Jared Buswell and David Rutkauskas were recorded absent. The board noted that, upon readoption, the rules would be filed with the Office of Administrative Rules and then submitted to the Legislature and the Governor for review and potential effect. After the readoption the board voted to adjourn; the meeting ended at 9:11 a.m.
