“We are still definitely in our infancy stages, but we're currently truly focused on internal operations and really ensuring that we're building a strong foundation,” the behavioral‑services official said. Officials said, once the new staff are onboarded, the department will slow down to conduct a community needs assessment, meet service providers and stakeholders, and set immediate, intermediate and long‑term priorities. The department emphasized it will clear barriers for service providers and advocate for programs, especially those funded through SCORF.
