Resident urges clearer fireworks standards, citing PTSD

She told council the unpredictability of mortars causes severe anxiety and said: "It's not the safe and sane ones that I have an issue with. It's those mortars that keep going off at random times, random days."
She welcomed staff plans to use drones to identify illegal activity when conditions permit but asked the council to set a clear public standard about when fireworks displays should be canceled for safety. City staff said they would explore clearer wind/operational thresholds and improve public communications and contingency planning for future events.
