Highway superintendent outlines planned culvert work and temporary road closure; sheriff reports traffic enforcement uptick

Highway Superintendent Brian Gustad told commissioners that County Road 1 will be closed for a planned culvert replacement at the inlet of Lake Oakwood and that 214th Street between 34th Avenue and Aurora was closed for patching and paving by Bowes Construction with an anticipated reopening by mid-Friday.
Gustad said the work is not a permanent fix but a safety measure for the traveling public. Sheriff Marty Stanwick reported the jail population at 59 inmates and said 87 individuals were participating in the 24/7 sobriety program; Stanwick also noted increases in speeding violations and stop-sign violations and said he will conduct a speed analysis on Broadway in Aurora at the city's request.
