Staff noted the city budgeted about $300,000 for the project in fiscal year 2026, so the work may need to be delayed to the following year and the available funds used for engineering and preliminary work. The presenter also flagged an old 4-inch cast-iron waterline that should be replaced at an estimated $100,000 charged to the combined water and wastewater fund; sewer condition (and slip-lining needs) remains to be confirmed.
Board members urged doing the engineering and full reconstruction rather than a piecemeal fix, stressing residents will need to be patient during construction and staff should examine driveway elevations, storm drains and utilities before proceeding.
