The Woodbury County Board approved an authorization for the chair to bind the county's 2026 property insurance with ICAP after Human Resources Director Melissa Thomas presented the renewal.
Thomas said the premium increase is modest and is driven by higher property valuations and additions to the vehicle and equipment schedules; she listed deductible amounts of $5,000 for automobiles, $2,500 for equipment and $50,000 for property. She noted the county recently added the Bearcat vehicle to the schedule and that drove part of the change to vehicle valuations. After a short question period, a supervisor moved to approve the authorization for the chair to sign; the motion carried unanimously, 5–0.
The board recorded the action as authorization to bind coverage; staff did not present alternate carriers at the meeting and indicated this was the county's chosen provider for 2026.
