Superintendent Schaeffer notifies board he will retire June 30, 2027

Dr. Schaeffer formally notified the board of his intent to retire and thanked current and past board members, staff and the community for support during his 12 years in the district. He highlighted accomplishments including improved academic performance and progress on facilities upgrades, and said he wanted to give the board time to begin a successor search. “My last contractual day will be 06/30/2027,” Dr. Schaeffer said.
The board accepted the retirement notice by motion and unanimous voice vote. Trustees expressed appreciation and asked for a timeline and next steps; administration said it will work with the board on succession planning and ensure continuity through the end of the contract year.
