Board approves $173,385 contract to refresh painted pavement markings on 56.5 miles of Sedgwick County roads

The Sedgwick County Board of Bids and Contracts on May 29 approved a $173,385 contract with Traffic Control Services Incorporated to refresh painted edge and centerline pavement markings on about 56.5 miles of county roadway. Lee Barry, a Public Works representative, told the board the engineer's estimate was $184,944 and recommended accepting the lower bid from Traffic Control Services.
"engineers estimate of $184,944" and "Recommend to accept the bid from Traffic Control Services Incorporated in the amount of $173,385," Lee Barry said while presenting the item for Public Works. Barry said the new painted pavement markings will improve the visibility of existing markings at locations where needed to aid the traveling public.
A board member moved to accept the low bid and the motion was approved by roll call. The meeting record shows the item was advanced with affirmative votes and staff will proceed with contract administration and scheduling.
