Christine Spurbier, who identified herself as “project manager for the PPW,” presented drawings and schedule updates for the proposed cemetery wall, describing the structure as a dry‑stacked wall with a granite cap and a new perforated underdrain to direct water into the existing drainage system. She said survey work is underway and the team is aiming to finish the survey by the end of the month to ensure the wall does not encroach on adjacent private property.
Spurbier said changes to the design were made after field review: “We realized that putting those in would require excavation into the graveyard,” she said, explaining that two planned pedestrian walkways were removed from the design to avoid disturbing graves. She also said a planned fence was removed from the immediate scope because it would delay the project past the fall completion target. On funding, Spurbier told the committee that donations for the wall will be accepted at City Hall beginning in September and confirmed that an archaeologist will be onsite during any excavation per state requirements.
