BOCC reviews 37 advisory boards; staff to return with reporting schedule and cost summary

Tanya (staff) walked commissioners quickly through each advisory board's scope, membership and meeting cadence, noting 37 total boards and five CABs. For the aging and physical disabilities advisory board she said it "is created by Sedgwick County, Resolution" and described its membership, required qualifications and meeting cadence.

Commissioners directed staff to return with a proposed schedule for semiannual or annual updates for state-mandated boards and asked for a short summary page showing cost per meeting and total annual costs. The sheriff noted two boards required by state statute — the civil service board and a citizens' advisory board — and said those panels serve as important checks and discipline-review mechanisms; he told commissioners that the civil service board's membership balance is a statutory requirement.
