Dayton introduces new park specialist Derek, who starts events planning with sports camp

Parks staff introduced Derek as the commission's new park specialist and asked him to briefly describe his background and priorities.
Derek said, "I'm Derek. I worked for the city of Burnsville previously, and then before that, the city of Beacon. Just looking to to plan events, here for the city of Dayton," and noted that a "mega sports camp" starts the following day. He said he is learning the position and generating ideas for upcoming months and the following year.
Commissioners welcomed Derek and discussed how staff support and event planning will tie into Phase 3 work and the parks calendar.
